Vid Ušeničnik / SI

Vid Ušeničnik was born in the year 1991. At the age of five he began to play the piano, and after eight years of schooling in the class of professor Jasna Kalan he won the third prize and gold medal at the national competition of young Slovenian musicians (TEMSIG). While studying piano he began to study percussion at the Music School in Kranj in the class of professor Andraž Poljanec.

At the High School for Music in Ljubljana he was the student of professor Jernej Šurbek. He graduated at the High School in Škofja Loka, and then enrolled at the SlikeAcademy of Music in Ljubljana with professor Boris Šurbek. During his studies, he worked with various Slovenian orchestras such as Simfonični orkester RTV Slovenija, Big Band RTV Slovenija, Big Band Akademije za glasbo, with Orkester slovenske filharmonije, SNG Opera Ljubljana, SFK Orchestra of Klagenfurt, SNG Maribor, with a Simfonični orkester gimnazije Kranj, and with many renowned local and foreign artists: Bojan Gorišek, Milko Lazar, Nebojša Jovan Živković, Nuška Drašček and others. As a soloist he participates with Glasbena mladina ljubljanska and performs in different regions in Slovenia.

He won first place and a gold medal at the international competition in the Italian Treviso, first place and the gold medal at the TEMSIG in 2012 and 2014, he received a Yamaha scholarship in 2013 and he won Prešeren Award of Academy for Music for the year 2013. In the year 2013/2014 he was chosen to represent Slovenia in an International EU orchestra. Since he began to study at the Academy of Music, he is also studying at the Conservatory of Music, where he learn jazz drums with professor Janez GABRIĆ. In the year 2014 they introduced the discipline jazz solo on TEMSIG, where he won first prize and a gold medallion.
